SnowShoe
SnowShoe makes magic plastic. One touch to the screen of any smartphone or tablet and you trigger a digital interaction.
Ask
As a first employee of this VC-backed startup, its sole product designer, and one of two software engineers, I led branding, front-end web development, and built out full-stack prototypes for our customers.
Approach
SnowShoe provides developers with the basic API, software libraries and hardware to create remarkable physical-to-digital experiences. Its hardware has no batteries, no power, no circuitry, no antenna and no moving parts - but can be identified by simply touching it to the screen of any touch-enabled device.
Our team consistently innovated at the intersection of physical hardware and mobile experiences, with specific expertise in API services, algorithm design, 3D printing, web and native app software products, developer-facing platforms and offshore manufacturing.
At SnowShoe, I split my time between product design and software engineering, often taking a project from idea, to design, and all the way through code deployment:
Product design
Oversaw creative direction and brand collaboration for new products
Led creative and technical integrations with Disney, Red Bull and various musical artists. Personally designed and developed an app for Red Bull that resulted in 80% conversion.
Designed UX and UI
software engineering
Developed full stack client apps using our technology
Deployed analytics solutions that allowed for data-driven design decisions
Supported public front-end and back-end software libraries (jQuery, Ruby, Python, PHP, Android)
Named author on patent covering physical/digital interaction with realtime databases
Wrote a program that would add a predetermined amount of variance to each of our hardware units, and then output a file that could be used by the manufacturer to create the single SKU
Creating documentation and corresponding illustrations
